Chlamydial infections
Chlamydial (pronounced "klam-idd-ee-al") infections occur fairly
frequently in Europe. The tiny bacteria responsible are named Chlamydia
trachomatis. They multiply in mucous membranes: in the urethra (the
tube through which urine passes out of the body), the vagina (more
precisely, in the mouth of the uterus), in the bowel and in the throat.
To become infected, your mucous membrane must come in contact with an
infected mucous membrane or with an infected body fluid. This comes
about most often through fucking and blowjobs.
You often don't
notice it when you've been infected with chlamydia. Sometimes it causes
inflammation, for instance in the urethra, the epididymis (inside parts
of your balls) and in the bowel. If you get a burning sensation or pain
when peeing, or if you notice some discharge, you should definitely get
yourself examined for chlamydia. It's a much more common infection than
the clap (gonorrhoea). There's a special antibiotic that treats the
infection very effectively. And you really should get treatment because
even if a chlamydial infection is not much more than a nuisance to you,
it can lead to infertility in women.
Condoms and the female condom provide good protection.
