There's been talk recently about chemical agents in the vagina designed to protect you against HIV in particular.

But these microbicides don't work properly yet. Some chemicals are still too aggressive and irritate sensitive skin too much. This can lead to mini-wounds, which actually mean you're exposed to greater risk.

So it's better not to rely on them yet.
